Kari Jobe released "The Garden" a week earlier than expected, along with the words below sharing some of her heart behind the song:
"The Garden song is truly one of the most intimate songs I've ever written. It's a song that captures the raw emotion of truth. Truth of pain and sorrow that feels like it could swallow you up and suffocate you. There are moments we experience in life that knock the wind out of us and may cause us to question exactly what God is up to. God used a garden in my back yard to help me remember that He is always at work to turn extremely difficult situations into beauty. Everything we do in this life, on this side of heaven, is Kingdom oriented. There will always be pruning, planting, watering and growth. Different seasons have different experiences- but God is ALWAYS up to something beautiful. I want to honor my sister today and all who have lost little sweet angels in your life. Oh the pain that it is. Maybe you didn't lose a child but you've experienced something that was extremely hard to walk through. Questions rise up at times that cause us to cry out to the Lord for answers. In all the searching and surrendering there is life and the very presence of almighty God that comes rushing in to heal. I pray that as you listen to the Garden, the song and the whole album, you'll feel the incredible peace of God and hear His voice speaking words of truth, life and healing to deep places of your soul. You are going to be ok..hold on, life is growing around you, but it might take your spiritual eyes to see it."
The Garden is available now for pre-order and expected to be released fully Friday, February 3rd.
I had hope
But given up
Desperate for a sign from God
Something good
Something kind
Bringing peace to every corner of my mind
Then I saw the garden
Hope had come to me
To sweep away the ashes
Wake me from my sleep
I realized
You never left
Before this moment
You planned ahead
That I would see
Your faithfulness in all of the green
I can see the ivy
Reaching through the wall
'Cause you will stop at nothing
To heal my broken soul
I can see the ivy
Growing through the walls
'Cause you will stop at nothing
To heal my broken soul
You're healing broken souls
You're healing broken souls
Faith is rising up like ivy
Cringing for the light
Hope is stirring deep inside me
Making all things right
Love is lifting me from sorrow
Catching every tear
Dispelling every lie and torment
Crushing all my fears
You crush all my fears
You crush all my fears
With Your perfect love
Your perfect love
Now I see redemption
Growing in the trees
The death and resurrection
In every single seed
